Over the past few weeks, like many others, we have found ourselves looking for answers and direction. Recent events surrounding the unjust death of George Floyd and other Black people who have been wrongly killed due to prejudice have put the spotlight on this long-standing issue of racial injustice. At JTB Business Travel, we knew something must be done, but we didn’t quite know what that something was or what our place in it should be.

So, we started by getting all the managers together to share their views and ideas. Through our discussions and a process of self-reflection, we rediscovered our own values. Values we had all along but didn’t realize just how far these values could reach. Our Common Sense Approach and The JTB Way.
We have always applied our Common Sense Approach to our business practices and services offered. We now realize that it should not stop there. It must apply to everything we do – including our stand on racial injustice and prejudice. Our Common Sense Approach in this matter means that we do not tolerate any injustice or prejudice directed at any person or community because of their ethnicity or race.

We found this – The JTB Way.” The JTB Way places a high value on fairness, global interconnectedness, the beauty found in humanity’s history and cultural diversity. Holding on to these values and deeply considering their meaning in connection with our Common Sense Approach leads us to think about what we are doing and what more we can do.

At JTB Business Travel, we constantly challenge ourselves to adapt and evolve to current needs that come up globally and can have an effect on the travel industry. In light of recent events, we are challenging ourselves to ensure we continue to adapt while showing our support to all.
